The Swedish Network of Asylum and Refugee Support Groups (FARR) was founded in 1988. At present it has an individual membership of 765 and 18 affiliated local committees and 18 other associated organizations. There are also around 70 experienced refugee lawyers amongst our members.

We have groups throughout Sweden which assist individual asylum seekers in the asylum procedure in co-operation with legal counsel.

FARR's main objectives are
to defend the right to asylum
to monitor that the Swedish authorities respect international and national refugee law when dealing with asylum applications
to act as an umbrella organisation for local asylum and refugee support groups
to contact authorities on matters regarding refugee policy.
to represent our members in FOSIF - a consultative organ for Swedish humanitarian associations working with refugees.

FARR publishes a quarterly newsletter in Swedish called Artikel 14, that reviews current asylum and refugee issues in Sweden. Translations into English of some of the most recent articles are published on our website.
FARR is a corresponding member of the monthly publication Migration News Sheet (MNS) MNS provides a summary on a national basis of the issues of asylum, immigration, integration and xenophobia throughout Europe and thoroughly covers developments within the European Union.
FARR is a member of the Swedish Centre against Racism (CMR) and of the Swedish United Nations Association.

The board of FARR reflects the geographical spread of our organisation. Everyone who works for FARR does so on a voluntary basis.
